The coffees of Guatemala have long been prized for their high-grown, hard bean acidity and cleanness of flavor. In recent years the Guatemalan Coffee Association, Anacafe, has worked to clear up details of origin labeling and to ensure the integrity of coffees shipped from different parts of the country, and to distinguish and popularize the cup characteristics of the different growing regions. Antigua has long been the crown jewel of Guatemalan coffees, to the point where there was once mysteriously more coffee shipped from the region than grown there!
Our Medina coffee never suffered from this identity crisis. It has always been shipped directly to our importer. It is now doubly blessed, with both Rainforest Alliance certification and that from the Sustainable Agriculture Network. This coffee is an excellent and socially responsible coffee.
