Toraja Region (Indonesia)

Celebes has a very interesting history. The Dutch arrived around a century ago and established well run plantations in the Toraja region, Kalosi being the area’s principal city. The distinctive Arabicas earned a world-wide reputation. But when independence forced the Dutch out, the political unrest resulted in abandoned coffee farms for many years. Subsequently, Japanese experts rescued the industry in 1976. With Indonesian granted land this exceptional coffee was once again available.
